Hi, just a short introduction to a new hobby/sport that can be an absorbing, fascinating, addictive new venture to spend leisure time on. Model aircraft of all types are available to fly either as kit to build, or popular built and ready to fly to accommodate all levels, newbie to skilled. Joining club can lead to right type of aircraft choice to achieve successfully mastering radio controlled flight.
The starting point is with something like the trainer on display here. We fly at the Matamata airfield, Wednesdays/Sundays mainly. Other days are sometimes used if weather obliges.
The club has been in existence since 1972 and has evolved considerably since then, from control line models to now very reliable sophisticated radio control systems and aircraft. During the year we have events that draw in members from other clubs, aerobatic, large model rallies, pylon racing.
Another hot airfield is an aero tow event with gliders held at Okaia. So if we have peaked your interest, don’t be shy. Contact us and come out and see our activities, we are a friendly bunch, willing to steer you on the right course in what could be your newfound hobby.
